About Us

Freetown Jazz Academy is a youth-focused basketball institution in Sierra Leone committed to developing talent, building character, and creating opportunities for young athletes.

Founded with the vision of using basketball as a tool for education, empowerment, and community growth, the academy provides a platform where boys and girls can train, compete, and excel both on and off the court.

Our programs combine professional coaching, mentorship, and life skills development to help players reach their full potential. Beyond the game, we emphasize the values of discipline, teamwork, leadership, and resilience, preparing our athletes not only for competitive basketball but also for meaningful roles in society.

Over the years, Freetown Jazz Academy has grown into a recognized force in Sierra Leonean basketball. We proudly field teams across different divisions, including men’s and women’s categories, and actively participate in national competitions. In October 2024, under the leadership of Coach Riski James, the academy made history by hosting the first-ever international basketball game in Sierra Leone, a landmark event that showcased the country’s talent on a global stage.

At Freetown Jazz Academy, we believe basketball is more than a sport it is a pathway to education, empowerment, and social change. Our mission is to inspire the next generation of champions, nurture their dreams, and build a stronger community through the love of the game..
